Rockies Counseling Center to Offer Shame-Resilience Group

Individuals who suffer from shame are invited to join a 12-week shame-resilience program at Rockies Counseling Center. Based on the Connections Theory and the research of Dr. Brené Brown, the group will explore how shame affects men and women and how individuals can build shame resilience.

Research has shown a strong relationship between shame and other behavioral issues, including addiction, violence and depression.

“When we feel shame, we feel flawed and unworthy of acceptance,” explains Heidi Stouffer, a doctoral student at University of the Rockies. “That often creates feelings of fear, blame and disconnection. This group is designed to help people change their lives and to start living with courage, compassion and connection.”

Sessions will incorporate educational videos, group discussions and individual assignments. The group will meet weekly from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at Rockies Counseling Center (555 East Pikes Peak Avenue) beginning Wednesday, January 25.

The cost of the 12-week program is $20, which includes all materials. Call 719.442.0606 to register or for more information.
