University of the Rockies Creates a Virtual Community for Researchers

With the roll-out of Rockies Research Center, University of the Rockies plays matchmaker for researchers.

Using community forums, students and faculty are able to find and connect with people of common research interests.

“We offer specialized degree programming which can lead to specialized research during the dissertation stage. Our students now have a much larger network of faculty and peers for research support,” explains Dr. Debora Scheffel, dean of research at University of the Rockies. “Both campus students and online learners now have access to more faculty members in order to form a dissertation team or a support network that best fits their research goals.”

The second phase of Rockies Research Center, which launched for students in late August, also included additional tools from SAGE Research Methods Online (SAGE). SAGE links over 100,000 pages of renowned book, journal and reference content with advanced search and discovery tools. It helps scholars design research projects, understand a particular method or identify a new method, and write research.

“The library of resources available to our students is greatly expanded upon with SAGE,” says Scheffel. “The access to books, dictionaries, encyclopedia, handbooks and journal articles will be invaluable as they conduct thorough research reviews and pursue their own academic inquiry.”
