Dr. Douglas Gilbert Named Dean of University of the Rockies School of Organizational Leadership

Dr. Douglas Gilbert has joined University of the Rockies as dean of its School of Organizational Leadership.

Prior to this appointment, Dr. Gilbert served as chair of the School of Business for University of Phoenix, Colorado Campus. He also served American City University as general counsel. His teaching experience includes positions with Schiller International University in Strasbourg, France, Colorado State University – Global Campus, and University of Colorado, Denver, School of Public Affairs.

Dr. Gilbert brings international business experience from the agro-chemical, software and pharmaceutical industries. He led global mergers and business turnarounds as a strategy and transformation consultant with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young.

His education includes a bachelor’s degree in accounting and statistics from Southwestern College of Kansas; a juris doctorate degree from the University of Iowa College of Law; a master’s degree in business administration from the International Institute for Management Development, Lausanne, Switzerland; and a doctor of business administration degree from University of Phoenix. He expects to complete his PhD in Social Science from Tilburg University in 2014. 

Dr. Gilbert is a resident of Castle Pines, Colo., and served as the city’s first elected treasurer from 2008 to 2010 and as mayor pro tem from 2010 to 2012.
