University of the Rockies Offers Complimentary Hypnotherapy Professional Development Session
Psychology professor offers insight into the benefits of hypnosis

On October 24, 2013, University of the Rockies’ psychology professor, Dr. Ian Wickramasekera, will discuss how the use of hypnosis in a medical practice can have profound implications on patients with a multitude of health problems. Dr. Wickramasekera has first-hand experience with the power of hypnosis in treating issues ranging from cancer, surgical wound healing and chronic pain to hot flashes and weight loss.

In this complimentary session held at the Colorado Springs campus of University of the Rockies, Dr. Wickramasekera will explore recent advances that have proven the once controversial practice to be effective for patients experiencing common psychotherapy issues such as depression, anxiety and anger.

“Science indicates that when combined with hypnosis, psychotherapy yields much better results than just psychology alone,” said Wickramasekera. In fact for depression and anxiety, Wickramasekera notes, “the results are as much as 75 more effective.”

To learn how hypnosis is gaining credibility in the treatment of medical and psychological conditions, participants may register for the complimentary event by calling 866.442.0808 or emailing admissions@rockies.edu.

The University of the Rockies Colorado Springs campus is located at 555 E. Pikes Peak Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80903. The event will be held on Thursday, October 24, from 12-1:30pm.
