University of the Rockies Sponsors Project Angel Heart's Annual Fundraiser
University helps Denver-based non-profit feed terminally-ill community members

University of the Rockies recently joined more than 800 community leaders, philanthropists, and Denver’s most celebrated chefs at the 2013 A Taste for Life event, benefiting Project Angel Heart. The annual party, which also features a silent auction, raises funds to support the non-profit organization’s efforts to deliver nutritious meals, free of charge, to men, women and children living with life-threatening illnesses.

As a proud sponsor of the event and of the organization, University of the Rockies’ hopes to play a significant role in Project Angel Heart’s 2013 goal to deliver at least 485,000 meals to 2,200 people in the metro area and in Colorado Springs.

“We were honored to be a sponsor at this year’s A Taste for Life annual event and look forward to continuing our support of Project Angel Heart’s ongoing mission to get meals out the door and delivered to those who need them the most,” said Arron Lico, Director of Student Services for University of the Rockies.

Founded in 1991, Project Angel Heart’s initial mission began with the goal to ensure that those living with HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses were receiving proper nutrition.

The organization went from serving 12 clients with a single donated pan of lasagna to, in 2012, delivering 445,581 meals to 1,950 clients.
