University of the Rockies Offers Complimentary Seminar on Methods of Psychological Testing
Psychology professor to discuss using psychometric measures in therapy

On Thursday, January 16, Psychology Professor Dr. Nicole Peak, will present University of the Rockies’ latest complimentary professional development seminar titled Using Psychometric Measures in Therapy.

The event will be held at the University of the Rockies Colorado Springs campus and will focus on the considerable investment in the development of psychometric measures for use in diagnosing, monitoring care, and measuring change in psychiatric and psychological interventions. Psychometrics is the field of study concerned with the theory and technique of psychological measurement, which includes the measurement of knowledge, abilities, attitudes, personality traits, and educational measurements. These measures are most widely used in research studies, with minimal use in clinical practice. Dr. Peak’s presentation will examine the reason psychometrics are more commonly used in research studies rather than in therapy.

She will also discuss the consequences resulting from the dichotomy between research and clinical practices, and examine the proposition for a more realistic use of psychometric measures.

To learn about the use of psychometric measures in clinical practice, participants can register for the event on Thursday, January 16 from 12-1:30 p.m. by calling 866.442.0808 or emailing admissions@rockies.edu.

The University of the Rockies Colorado Springs campus is located at 555 E. Pikes Peak Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80903.
