University of the Rockies and Ashford University Get the Ball Rolling to Support Junior Achievement
Sister univerities join forces to raise funds for local K-12 students

Employees of University of the Rockies and Ashford University took to the bowling lanes on Thursday, April 17 to raise money for Junior Achievement (JA) – Rocky Mountain as part of the annual JA Bowl-A-Thon. Through their combined efforts, employees of the two universities raised more than $6,600 at the event.

The JA Bowl-A-Thon took place at the AMF Monaco Lanes in Denver. A total of 65 employees signed up to fill the roster of 13 teams. Additional funds were raised for Junior Achievement through a 50/50 drawing.

“As a university, we value service – not only to our students, but to the communities where we live and work,” said Dr. Charlita Shelton, president and CEO of University of the Rockies. “We are proud to contribute to such a strong program devoted to shaping tomorrow’s leaders.”

The JA Bowl-A-Thon is Junior Achievement’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Thousands of participants from hundreds of companies bowl each year to help Junior Achievement provide financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurial programs to local students. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the JA Bowl-A-Thon will be used to help Junior Achievement reach 114,000 students during the 2013/14 school year.
