University of the Rockies Vice Provost Authors New Diversity Textbook
The Ecology of Diversity now available

University of the Rockies Vice Provost Dr. Amy Kahn has authored a new textbook on diversity, The Ecology of Diversity. The book is an interdisciplinary glimpse into humanity, exploring who we are and how we live and work together. The Ecology of Diversity is designed for the student to reflect upon the similarities and differences that create bonds among us and also cause conflict.

“It is my hope that this textbook broadens the current discussions in the emerging field of diversity,” said Dr. Kahn. “Together we are strands in an intricate web of biology, socialization, and interpretation; each strand offering a complex story of genetics shaped by life experience.”

Many texts on the subject of individual and cultural diversity focus on the sociological aspects of the topic. The sociological perspective is essential, but our understanding of culture and of diversity has been influenced by the contributions of diverse groups of researchers and scholars. This text takes an interdisciplinary and integrated approach to the subject.

The Ecology of Diversity will be used in various classes in the School of Organizational Development and Leadership, School of Social, Human and Educational Development, and the School of Professional Psychology at University of the Rockies, a leading graduate school for the social and behavioral sciences.
