Carol Parenteau, manager of academic quality at University of the Rockies, was honored with the Director’s Award for Exceptional Service to Quality Matters. The award is presented to members of the Quality Matters community who have gone above and beyond common service to the organization. Parenteau was recognized for her efforts with program certification.

“The Director's Award for Exceptional Service recognizes contributions to developing Quality Matters program certification,” said Ron Legon, executive director at Quality Matters. “From conceptualization to implementation, Carol's exceptional contributions helped launch online program certifications, enhancing the learning experience.”

Parenteau received her award during the Seventh Annual Quality Matters Conference on Quality Assurance in Online Learning, held in San Antonio, Nov. 1-4, 2015. The conference focused on the importance of continuously improving experiences for learners.

“Quality is the focus of every task or project Carol undertakes,” said Dr. Julie Frese, University of the Rockies director of assessment and academic quality. “Her creativity, love of learning, and drive to challenge herself and others in striving for excellence have strongly influenced the vision and goals of our team.”

Earlier this year, Parenteau helped University of the Rockies attain institution-level certification from Quality Matters, making it the only institution to receive this designation so far.

"This is a well-deserved peer recognition for Carol's relentless dedication to the cause of quality in online education,” said Dr. Phil McCready, assessment specialist at University of the Rockies.
