Higher Learning Commission Selects University of the Rockies Director as Assessment Academy Mentor
Dr. Julie Frese will guide institutions as they seek to improve student outcomes
The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) has selected Dr. Julie Frese, director of assessment and academic quality at University of the Rockies, to serve as an Assessment Academy Mentor at the HLC Academy for Assessment of Student Learning.
The HLC Academy for Assessment of Student Learning is a rigorous, four-year program tailored to institutions that are committed to assessing and improving student learning. It offers institutions personalized guidance in developing institutional assessment goals, gathering student learning outcomes and other relevant data, and implementing strategies to achieve identified goals. As a mentor, Dr. Frese will consult with institutions as they move through the process of designing and implementing their assessment project. To prepare for her role, Dr. Frese recently completed an intensive mentor training in Illinois.
“As a former University of the Rockies HLC Assessment Academy team member, it is an honor to serve in the primary mentor role for other institutions,” said Dr. Frese. “I am extremely fortunate to be mentored by HLC scholars as part of this process.”
University of the Rockies is strongly committed to assessing and improving student learning. Earlier this year, the University received institutional certification from Quality Matters, an international program created to promote and improve the quality of online education and student learning.
