University of the Rockies Diversity Director Presents at the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute Conference

Francesca Galarraga, director of diversity at University of the Rockies, presented at the 34th National Conference of the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute (USHLI) in Chicago, Ill. last week. Her session, Free to Be Me: How to Be Your Authentic Self at Work, was an interactive session focused on women acknowledging who they are as individuals and showcasing their authentic identities at work.

“Individuals are multi-faceted. Acknowledging the richness of each of those layers is an integral part of being successful,” said Galarraga. “Bringing your whole self to work every day allows you to honor, value, and respect who you are, and it allows you to make decisions based on your experiences. It is about self-awareness and acceptance of yourself and others.”

The USHLI Conference has become the premier Hispanic leadership conference in the nation, attracting a complete cross section of leaders and incorporating all ancestry groups. More than 6,500 present and future leaders representing 40 states attended various events throughout the four days.

“Diversity is a core value at University of the Rockies. Our staff is exceptional, and Francesca leads our diversity efforts with strength, experience, and knowledge. Bringing her expertise to the larger community through presenting at USHLI empowers everyone,” said Dr. Dawn Iwamoto, president and CEO of University of the Rockies.
