University of the Rockies President Chosen as 2011 Woman Worth Watching

Dr. Charlita Shelton, president of University of the Rockies, a graduate school specializing in psychology programs at the master's and doctoral levels, has received the "Women Worth Watching 2011" award.

The award, presented by Profiles in Diversity Journal, recognizes leading business women who represent diversity within their spheres of influence. Dr. Shelton has more than 20 years of experience in diversity issues within the higher education industry.

The 9th Annual Women Worth Watching issue is intended to represent the kind of information shared by a mentor with an aspiring novice, particularly someone breaking new ground within an organization or industry.

Throughout her career, Dr. Shelton's research and ideologies have been featured in industry publications and presentations. She has recently completed a landmark study providing insights into how family background, social support, academic integration and financial support influence African-American male college graduation rates.
