Behavioral Health Center Hires New Director

 

University of the Rockies, a graduate school specializing in psychology programs at the master's and doctoral levels, announces the hiring of Dr. Marian Edelbrock as Director of its Behavioral Health Center.

Located on University of the Rockies’ campus in downtown Colorado Springs, the center provides low-cost psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families who have no third-party insurance or have only limited ability to pay. The center also serves homeless populations and those at risk of becoming homeless. Doctoral students at University of the Rockies use the facility for on-site clinical training.

“Dr. Edelbrock brings an abundance of clinical psychology experience,” said Dr. Charlita Shelton, president of University of the Rockies. “I’m certain that our students and the patients we serve will benefit from Dr. Edelbrock’s experience and leadership. We are thrilled to add her to our team.”

Dr. Edelbrock comes to Colorado Springs from San Diego, where she served as a clinical psychologist in private practice for the past five years. She also has a wealth of clinical experience in hospital, mental health agency settings, and in employee assistance programs in Southern California. 

Her studies and clinical experience cover a number of specializations, including addiction therapy, adolescent treatment, couples/family treatment, eating disorders, geropsychology, PTSD, and women's issues, including infertility.

Her education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Kingston Polytechnic, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Reading (Berkshire, England), a Certificate in Education from the University of London, and both an M.A. and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from United States International University.
