New Concentration Available in PsyD, Clinical Specialization program

Overview: University of the Rockies (UoR) has established a number of relationships with other institutions in the United States and internationally to provide training in Existential-Humanistic Psychology. Additionally, many UoR students have been active in presenting at the American Psychological Association, the annual Humanistic Psychotherapies Conference, and on the China trips on topics related to existential and humanistic psychology. As UoR has gained significant exposure as a school providing opportunities for training in existential and humanistic psychology, a concentration in this area for students in the PsyD, Clinical Specialization has been approved by the faculty senate. Courses will substitute for elective credit requirements in the program.

Concentration Requirements (9 credits):

Up to 3 credits toward the concentration can be earned from the following classes:

PSY 8345 - Jungian Psychology
PSY 8355 - Transpersonal Psychology

If students complete 3 credits from PSY 6410, PSY 8345, or PSY 8355, then 3 credits are needed from the following course options. If none of these courses were completed, then 6 credits are needed from the following coursework:

PSY 8351-8353 - These are 1-3 credit seminar classes in existential psychology. They often are used when special speakers, such as Kirk Schneider, come to Colorado Springs to teach a seminar.
