University of the Rockies Named Military Friendly

Following a survey of 8,000 colleges and universities nationwide, University of the Rockies has been named a Military Friendly School® for 2012 by G.I. Jobs magazine. The annual list recognizes the top 20% of all colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide with respect to how they support current and prospective military students.

University of the Rockies offers its military students financial benefits such as the Post-9/11 GI Bill, the Yellow Ribbon Program, Active Duty Military Tuition Grants, and book benefits. Recently, the University was named a Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) institution, allowing it to award academic transfer credit for graduate-level equivalent military training and job experience.

“As a former Marine, I am highly sensitive to the challenges our armed forces face – both in the line of duty and as they pursue higher education,” said Dr. Charlita Shelton, president of University of the Rockies. “I’m proud of this recognition and of the assistance and the opportunities we’re able to provide these men and women.”
