University of the Rockies and partners to bring Black History Live performance to Colorado Springs on February 7
University of the Rockies is partnering with local organizations to bring Black History Live back to Colorado Springs for two free community performances. Black History Live is an annual performance tour produced by Colorado Humanities. Through performance art, nationally recognized scholars portray African-Americans who have made important contributions to U.S. history. This year, Hasan Davis will perform as Angus Augustus Burleigh, an African-American slave, civil war soldier, educator and minister. Davis is a noted poet, scholar, storyteller, youth advocate and business owner. He holds a juris doctorate degree from the University of Kentucky and serves on the Federal Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee. Both events are free to attend and will be held at Stargazers Theatre and Event Center (10 South Parkside Drive) on Tuesday, Feb. 7. A daytime event for local schools begins at 10:00 a.m. An evening performance for the community will begin at 5:30 p.m. Space is limited for both performances, and seating will be reserved in the order of RSVP. Reservations may be emailed to info@cospdiversityforum.org.
