Dr. Marian Edelbrock, director of behavioral health for Rockies Counseling Center (RCC), has been nominated for the 2012 ATHENA Award, which recognizes an outstanding woman leader in the Colorado Springs community. “I am very flattered by the nomination as well as humbled to be included with the other extraordinary women nominees,” said Dr. Edelbrock. “Being a change agent is the most rewarding aspect of my job. I truly enjoy working with developing therapists and helping to shape their careers.” Dr. Edelbrock has served as director of the newly renovated RCC since April 2010. The RCC provides psychotherapy, psychological and neuropsychological assessments for individuals in the Pikes Peak Region. As a clinic attached to University of the Rockies, the RCC also provides on-site training for master’s and doctoral students at the University. The ATHENA Award is given to a woman community leader who best exemplifies three factors: mentoring, business accomplishment and community service. This year, 13 nominees are up for the award and will be scored by five confidential judges. The winner of the 19th annual Athena Award will be announced Wednesday, April 4 at the Annual Women in Business Conference and ATHENA Luncheon, sponsored by the Colorado Springs Chamber and EDC, to be held at The Broadmoor.
