Dozens of students attend event at the University's Tabor Center location
University of the Rockies hosted more than 60 high school students from across the country at a formal dinner held at the University’s Denver Instructional Site located in downtown Denver’s Tabor Center on Friday, June 14. The dinner was one of many events for the future leaders attending the National Leadership Academy put on by the Denver-based Spaulding Leadership Institute, June 13-16. Speakers at the event included Steve Spangler, who is a science author, teacher, professional speaker, toy designer, Emmy award-winning television personality, and big kid at heart; and Jessica Steinberg, a soon-to-be high school senior, who created and founded Giveable Giggles, an organization that encourages kids to help other kids. The National Leadership Academy is an intensive summer academy held annually to engage high school students in leadership training, service learning, and civic engagement. The goal is to create civic and service-minded high school students by developing their leadership skills, inspiring purpose, and empowering them to make a difference.
