Event is hosted by the Commandant of the Marine Corps
Dr. Charlita Shelton, president and chief executive officer of University of the Rockies, will spend today in the Washington D.C. area with 24 other civilian leaders from across the nation at the United States Marine Corps Executive Forum (MCEF). The purpose of MCEF is to bring together influential civilian leaders and familiarize them with the Marine Corps’ operational capability, current programs, and future initiatives. The all-day event begins at the Pentagon, includes a visit to Marine Corps Base Quantico, and concludes at the historic Marine Barracks, Washington, D.C. Participants will meet with senior leaders of the Marine Corps, interact with Marine officers, experience Marine Corps aviation firsthand, observe martial arts training, participate in a live-fire training exercise, and attend the evening parade at the barracks. “As a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, I have experienced some of the outstanding programs offered by the Corps. It is an honor to have been selected for MCEF and I welcome the opportunity to find out more about the Marine Corps’ current initiatives,” said Dr. Shelton. “At University of the Rockies, we pride ourselves on being an institution that supports the military and I am eager to enhance the relationship between our University and the U.S. Marine Corps.” The Marine Corps selects MCEF participants from a broad cross-section of the nation’s business community, as well as community leaders, public opinion leaders, representatives from academia, and the news media. All participants are senior-level executives in their respective fields. MCEF participants have the opportunity to discuss critical concepts and programs central to the Marine Corps, and are given the opportunity to offer their own insights and perspectives.
