University of the Rockies has received the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine for the second year in a row. The HEED Award is the only national recognition given to colleges, universities, and school systems that exhibit outstanding efforts and success in the areas of diversity and inclusion. “University of the Rockies is honored to receive this award," said Francesca Galarraga, director of diversity for University of the Rockies. “For us, diversity fosters an environment of inclusion where our faculty, staff, and students feel welcome, appreciated, and respected. Receiving the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award compels us to continue our diversity work at the University and in the community." The HEED award recipients were selected based on their exemplary diversity and inclusion initiatives covering all aspects of diversity, including gender, race, ethnicity, veteran status, people with disabilities, and members of the LGBT community.
