Academic experts discuss faculty engagement strategies
University of the Rockies’ academic staff members Dr. Julie Frese and Carol Parenteau presented a poster session at the WICHE (Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education Cooperative for Educational Technologies) Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado on Thursday, Nov. 14. In their presentation, “Games…Really? Engaging Faculty through Gaming,” Dr. Frese and Parenteau discussed engaging faculty in online learning communities by utilizing gaming elements. The presenters explained why the strategic combination of engagement and gaming elements results in synergy, and how to meet faculty and staff learning needs while having fun. WCET brings together colleges and universities with higher education organizations and companies to collectively improve the quality and reach of e-learning programs. WCET fosters collaborative projects, information sharing, and networking among some of the country's most established and innovative postsecondary e-learning providers.
