Saturday, April 26 was designated “Heroes Day” for employees of University of the Rockies, Bridgepoint Education, and Ashford University. With coordinated volunteer events scheduled in Denver, Colo., San Diego, Calif., and Clinton, Iowa, hundreds of employees, their families, friends, and students donated their time to improve the communities where they live and work.

In Denver, faculty and staff from University of the Rockies teamed up with employees from Ashford University to volunteer at the Mi Casa Resource Center. The volunteers painted the facility’s all-purpose rooms, pulled weeds, redistributed rocks, and landscaped the outside of the building.

Founded in 1976, Mi Casa Resource Center works to advance the economic success of Latino and working families by expanding opportunities for educational, professional, and entrepreneurial advancement.
 
Heroes Day was not just for employees though. University of the Rockies students and alumni were invited to take part as well and were encouraged to participate in meaningful volunteer efforts in their own communities on April 26.
