Jim Yeonopolus, President of the Council of College and Military Educators (CCME), presented Carolyn M. Baker with the 2015 President’s Award at the organization’s Annual Symposium held January 26-29, 2015. Each year, the CCME President bestows the President’s Award to recognize an individual for outstanding work on behalf of the organization and for service to members of the military. Baker is a member of the Board of Trustees for University of the Rockies and has been involved with CCME for many years.

Baker has devoted her civilian career to the field of military voluntary education, culminating in her appointment in September 2013 as Chief of the Department of Defense’s Continuing Education Programs. Throughout her twenty-year career, Baker worked as a military educator and led by example, encouraging military educators to upgrade and maintain their professional skills to the highest levels while simultaneously working with the civilian higher education community to improve the quality of education offerings. Baker has been a respected leader in the education of service members. 

“Carolyn Baker went around the world to support getting text books to military personnel at a reasonable cost. She was able to pull all the Service Chiefs together and work with them to find solutions for military students,” said Yeonopolus. “I want to thank her for all the voluntary service she has given.”
