More than 4,000 attendees discussed the topic of accreditation
Faculty and staff from University of the Rockies, a leading graduate school focusing on the social and behavioral sciences, attended the Higher Learning Commission’s (HLC) annual conference, held March 28-31, 2015 in Chicago, Ill. The HLC is the accrediting body for University of the Rockies and recently continued the accreditation of the University with the next Reaffirmation of Accreditation in 2024-2025. Dr. Tina Parscal, University of the Rockies provost, and Dr. Amy Kahn, University of the Rockies vice provost, facilitated and hosted a roundtable discussion for attendees. The topic, “Bring it On: Engaging Community Throughout the Self-Study Process,” provided an opportunity for attendees to share experiences and best practices for engaging the many different communities involved in achieving accreditation. These include internal communities, such as students, faculty and staff, as well as the external community at large. The conference provided an opportunity for attendees to share best practices and new ideas with their peers. “We are all here to increase the quality of education to students. The conference provides us opportunities to learn how to increase the quality and assessment of our programs in order to support our students in providing them the best education possible,” said Dr. Charlita Shelton, CEO and president, University of the Rockies.
