In honor of Conflict Resolution Month in Colorado, University of the Rockies, a graduate school of the social and behavioral sciences, and Mi Casa Resource Center joined together to increase positive conflict resolution. University of the Rockies facilitated an interactive workshop, specifically for Mi Casa employees, held at the University’s campus in Denver, Colo. The workshop was led by Dr. Jim Castleberry, a full-time faculty member at University of the Rockies, and Louise Cox, a Ph.D. student at University of the Rockies. “Mi Casa employees are grateful for this opportunity provided by University of the Rockies to expand their skills and understanding of positive conflict resolution methods that they can apply in the workplace, when working with the families we serve, and in their personal lives,” said Mi Casa Vice President of Development Liesl Thomas. University of the Rockies offers a specialization in mediation and conflict resolution at both the doctoral and master's level. By leveraging the expertise of the University, Mi Casa employees were able to gain skills useful in dealing not only with clients, but with each other as well. "Knowing a few effective skills can make all the difference to the outcome of conflict," said Dr. Castleberry.
