Dr. Charlita Shelton Selected to Speak at the Adult Higher Education Alliance Annual Conference

 

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., July 2 /PRNewswire/ -- University of the Rockies President Dr. Charlita Shelton has been selected to speak at the 29th Annual Adult Higher Education Alliance Conference being held Oct. 6-9 in Chicago, Ill.

Dr. Shelton, a well-established scholar on diversity issues, will present "Influences That Lead To Higher Graduation Rates Of African American Males Who Receive Their Undergraduate Degree." 

The Adult Higher Education Alliance is an association of professionals from across the country who are engaged in action learning, reflection and discussion which they bring into their own lives as well as to colleges and universities as teachers and administrators. The group is united through its commitment to adult students, adult education professionals and research supporting adult higher education.

Dr. Shelton's experience in higher education spans more than 20 years. She earned her Ph.D. in Human Development from Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara, Calif., where she also received her M.A. in Human Development. She received her first M.S. in Education Administration from National University in San Diego, Calif., and her B.S. in Communications from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Mich. Other professional affiliations include Executive Women International, Soroptomist International, the National Women's History Museum, the Human Rights Campaign, Who's Who Among Women, the Diversity Leadership Alliance, and the Arizona Human Rights Fund.
