Sharon Trivette has been accepted into the Leadership Pikes Peak Signature Class for 2008-2009. The 10-Month Signature Program which began in 1979 and is entering its twenty-sixth year, was born out of the desire to introduce a diverse group of business, government, and nonprofit leaders and community members to an in-depth study of the issues and opportunities facing the Pikes Peak region. Participants commit to an average of one day a month over ten months to gain a deeper understanding of the community by integrating in depth knowledge, leadership skill development, and opportunities to take action. The foundation of the Signature Program is the knowledge of the community. Encountering the major systems that comprise our community from the experts in each field encourages participants to gather facts, experience the system, and filter in their own values to determine how they will take an active role in shaping our community. The philosophical components of ethics, character development, demonstrating integrity and holding the community in trust round out the focus of the program. Upon completion, LPP Signature Program Participants are recognized as "community trustees," or citizens who have exhibited leadership skills, understand the issues and opportunities that face our community, and take responsibility for, as well as play an active role in shaping our community.
