University of the Rockies Honored for Diversity Efforts by Profiles in Diversity Journal
University recognized for building employee engagement through ROCKtoberfest event

University of the Rockies was honored in the Profiles in Diversity Journal’s 10th Annual International Innovations in Diversity Awards competition for building employee engagement through its ROCKtoberfest event. The awards recognize corporations, organizations, and institutions for developing innovative solutions in the area of workforce diversity and inclusion. The honorees will be featured in Profiles in Diversity Journal’s July/August 2013 issue.

“University of the Rockies is committed to diversity and takes pride in initiatives designed to support an inclusive culture,” said Francesca Galarraga, director of diversity at University of the Rockies. “The response to this event has been tremendous. A simple solution has helped build engagement, satisfaction, and commitment to diversity.”

ROCKtoberfest is an annual event created to celebrate the University’s history and the strength of the University’s team.

“Our acknowledgement of diversity as a core value is demonstrated through consistent reflection and evaluation of diversity as a seminal influence in the student, faculty, and staff experience,” said Galarraga.

Some of the other diversity initiatives University of the Rockies has launched to focus on employee engagement include community service projects, mix-it-up lunches, diversity training, and the development of an internal portal for information exchange.

Profiles in Diversity Journal previously recognized University of the Rockies for its diversity efforts in 2010 and 2011.
