Introducing Rockies Counseling Center
On-Site Counseling Center at University of the Rockies Announces New Name

University of the Rockies, a graduate school specializing in psychology programs at the master's and doctoral levels, announces the renaming of its on-site community counseling center. Effective immediately, the facility formerly known as the Switzer Community Counseling Center will be called Rockies Counseling Center (RCC).

Located on University of the Rockies’ campus in downtown Colorado Springs, RCC provides low-cost psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families who are uninsured, underinsured or have only limited ability to pay. RCC also serves individuals in need of counseling as a result of crime or abuse.

“We see a full spectrum of clients, ranging from children to adults, with a focus on individuals and families with lower incomes,” explains Dr. Marian Edelbrock, clinic director. “No one is denied services at Rockies Counseling Center due to inability to pay.”

Along with the name change, several notable improvements are being made to the facility. By January 2011 the RCC will have doubled in size. Additional neuropsychology and biofeedback services are expected in 2011.

“Our enhancements in neuropsychology and biofeedback will put us on par with major universities,” says Edelbrock. “We’re excited about the next level and quality of care we’ll be able to provide to the community.”

Once renovations are complete, a community open house will be scheduled. In the meantime, Edelbrock is accepting requests for personal tours. Call 719.442.0606 to schedule an appointment.
