University of the Rockies (UoR) has announced the launch of a Criminology and Justice Studies specialization for university students pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree in Psychology. 

“This specialization emphasizes the psychological, social psychological and sociological study of crime, along with its societal impacts and resulting criminal behavior,” said Dr. Stephen Kirkpatrick, Dean of the School of Organizational Leadership.  “It provides access to the advanced study of criminology and justice, from the individual to the societal levels.  This is a growing field, in which many people are opting to pursue more focused career goals, especially those who wish to prevent crime and criminal lifestyles.”

UoR’s Criminology and Justice Studies specialization for master’s and doctoral degree candidates is one of the first of its kind.  According to Kirkpatrick, students enrolled in the program are exposed to course content that is both conceptual and practical, via a learning channel that combines traditional teaching methodologies with cutting edge technology.  While it is currently open to online students only, campus students will soon be able to enroll in the specialization, as well.
